QA Lead at Guardian in Holmdel, New Jersey

Job Description:

The QA Lead will be a key role within the Enterprise Software Quality Assurance (ESQA) organization.

This Leadership role will be responsible for leading Individual Life or Disability products of Guardian and providing a testing progress and results via Metrics to Project Leadership. Responsibilities include leading an enterprise size project through the Software Testing Life Cycle via the SAFe framework utilizing a Risk-Based-Testing methodology.

The role will be responsible for the leadership of day-to-day testing activities and will oversee it testing execution, managing testing timelines, tracking parallel testing efforts that may include performance, integration, and end to end process flow.  The person in this role will have a strong collaboration, communication skills engaging with both onshore and offshore teams.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare / review detailed Test Strategy & Test Cases for Individual Life or Disability products. Including creation of test schedules and task breakdowns for assigned projects, identifies risks and provides mitigation for impediments.


• Drives innovation and optimize overall test process via use of automation or other non-conventional solutions


• Collaborate, coordinate, communicate and provide direction to an offshore testing team utilizing excellent verbal and written skills


• Facilitation skills for driving meetings, (example defect triage) utilizing critical thinking and decision-making skills for a geographically dispersed team


• Presentation skills to develop strategic presentations via PowerPoint or Tableau leveraging ESQA metrics to facilitate collaboration and risk mitigation


• Identify opportunities for integration testing and end-to-end testing with other projects or existing applications.


• Identify opportunities for ‘Shift Left’ engagement of QA resources at the inception of requirements.


• Provide feedback to management on project status/quality and represent QA at interdepartmental meetings.


• Review requirements and functional specifications for various projects and provide feedback.


• Ability to strategically assess incoming initiative and propose well balanced test approach (Test Architecture)


• Reports to ESQA Director

Qualifications: 

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, demonstrable experience with testing Life Insurance products.


• Demonstrated success in leading an onshore / offshore team for an Enterprise Project including engaging with a third-party development partner


• Proficient understanding of Software Quality Assurance methodologies for Agile/SAFe Framework; Agile Certification preferred.


• Knowledge of a various technical stacks, integrated API technologies, Mainframe, Cloud infrastructure & computing, and Mobile technologies used to support a Digital Platform & ongoing transformation


• Self-starter who takes initiative and can work in a team environment, collaborating across multiple teams simultaneously with tight deadlines


• Excellent people and communication skills – able to effectively provide feedback and drive issue resolution and root cause analysis


• Proficient in Microsoft Office tool suite and ability to present Metrics and inferences via MS PowerPoint or Tableau


• Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction and works well under pressure.


• Four-year college degree in business or technical area or equivalent business experience.
