Job Description:

The successful candidate must be familiar with a manufacturing environment, have computer knowledge, a self-starter who pays attention to detail and accuracy and taking responsibility for his/her work. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Metrology Inspector is responsible for interpreting customer drawings and specifications and determining the necessary metrology requirements to ensure that the customers’ requirements are met.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Subject matter expert and skilled technical knowledge in developing inspection solutions.

  • Oversees, develops, and conducts inspections components and tools using CAD and GD&T information with portable and stationary Coordinate Measuring Machines.

  • Expert operator in multiple types of metrology equipment for the inspection of components and manufacturing tools.

  • Inspection of products and material then generating inspection records in accordance with AS9102 Specification.

  • Ensuring material products and processes (paint, anodize, chem-film, etc.) are applied in accordance with applicable drawings and specification requirements.

  • Interfacing with machinists and production personnel related to his/her workmanship and determine if other quality issues exist.

  • Verification of calibrated tools to ensure that gages and measuring instruments are within calibration interval prior to use.

  • Ensuring nonconforming materials are isolated/quarantined from acceptable parts and are properly documented and controlled in accordance with Hera Quality procedures and work instructions.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or SolidWorks), and ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Ability to write legible reports and findings, using basic programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and advanced programs for PC-DMIS, Inspire, and Spatial Analyzer software.

  • Understanding of basic statistical process control, probabilities, and sampling plans.

  • Understanding of basic quality concepts, philosophies, and tools.

  • Understanding of quality standards such as ISO, AS9100, AISC or other quality management systems.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects, in multiple environments and locations.

  • Subject matter expert in performing measurement system error and non-conformity root cause evaluations and assists in develop corrective action plans.

  • Expert in developing inspection methods and provides feedback to improve product and tool designs.

  • Expert knowledge in inspection planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum 3 years’ Inspection/Quality experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Strong background in fabrication, equipment, and techniques.

  • Must be able to pass an ITAR-grade background check.

  • Understands value of time and materials.

  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Must have computer understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Must be able to interpret drawings including GD&T.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize inspection duties.

  • Ability to work with others in a fast-changing environment.

  • Ability to understand PO requirements and verification of Certificate of Conformance.

  • Knowledge of mechanical measuring tools including but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, scales, pin and radius gages, height gage, surface finish comparator, dial indicator, etc.

PREFFERED REQUIREMENTS:


  • Knowledge of PC-DMIS, Inspire, & Spatial Analyzer software.

  • Ability to use Discus to balloon a print and generate AS9102 forms.

  • Proficient on programming and operating PCMM & CMM with PC-DMIS.

  • Proficient in the use of Laser Trackers and Inspire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods, lift to 50 pounds, stoop, climb, and use ladders to perform various inspection tasks and studies.


  • Handling and moving objects- Using hands and arms in handling, positioning, and moving materials

  • Must be able to stand, squat, bend, crawl, reach

Manufacturing environment: May be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
