RESPONSIBILITIES
The Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS) is seeking an innovative and forward-moving professional to serve as the technical leader for the Advanced Manufacturing and Sensing (AMS) Office at the LPS College Park facility. AMS performs physical layer research in the areas of Integrated Photonics & Photonic Sensors, Novel Antennas & Sensors, Hardware Trust, Advanced Additive Manufacturing, Quantum Sensing, and Beyond Moore's Computing. Our highly skilled and degreed government scientists and engineers conduct both in-house research at world-class facilities, and external research through a wide variety of academic, national laboratory, and industry partners. LPS/AMS strongly interacts with other world-class research and development elements at national laboratories, at Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), and in industry to ensure the best available technical approaches are brought to bear against the most difficult problems of NSA, the IC, and DoD. As a technical leader, the selectee will help drive the technical agenda for AMS through the creation of new mission partnerships, strengthening existing partnerships, and forging new collaborative relationships with subject matter experts and leaders across the IC, DoD, academia, and the commercial sector. The selectee must possess a broad technical background and be able to communicate effectively ' both oral and written ' with technical experts from a diverse set of disciplines; envision and link current or future LPS technologies to critical mission needs; and, build high-performance, cross-functional, and cross-organizational technical collaborations to meet technical challenges. Critical participation in budget builds, execution planning, and project reviews will be required on a continuing basis to maintain a smooth running program. In addition, the individual may serve as a program manager supporting the primary program technical lead (principal investigator) for AMS collaborations with IC and DoD partners.

The selectee must meet the following requirements: - Demonstrated ability to seek out, identify and foster potential mission partnerships and operational applications for technical expertise and products; - Adept at creating cross organizational partnerships to deliver new capabilities to customers. - Experience as a program and/or technical lead for collaborations with government and academic partners; - Demonstrated experience as a strong and credible technical leader; - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leaders, staff personnel, and external elements at all levels, while maintaining strong organizational skills and multitasking in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment; - Strong communication and interpersonal skills; be creative, organized and results driven; - Strong communication of ideas, challenges, and lessons learned to others through formal and informal presentations, papers, working groups, tiger teams, meetings, and actions; essentially function as the technical spokesperson for AMS; - Demonstrated sound judgment in all actions and be able to both guide and seek advice from an experienced workforce; - Ability to condense and synthesize information quickly, as well as to work many actions in parallel; - Ability to make fair and sound decisions and to portray a positive, proactive, and professional attitude across all levels; - Ability to foster the technical leadership base through coaching and development opportunities to prepare high potential individuals for future challenges; and, - Interest in outreach, recruitment, and retention of individuals with new and/or diverse skills, outlooks, and approaches that will reshape NSA's workforce.
PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
Salary Range: $148,484 - $176,300 (Entry to Expert) On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 to 1800 hrs (flexible).
POSITION SUMMARY
As an Engineering and Physical Science professional, you will use your skills to create the systems and tools that will be used to enhance the operation of intelligence. You will advise, administer and perform scientific projects, such as planning, designing, and constructing specialized equipment, and ensuring adherence to sound engineering and scientific standards and principles. The NSA offers multiple areas of focus for facilities engineers, including computer, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural. In addition, we are seeking skills that include computer design, microelectronics, radio frequency design, and systems engineering. Apply your science and engineering skills to protect the nation.
