Position Overview
This position is responsible for leading the management of Environmental Health & Safety initiatives at assigned locations.
Key Safety Responsibilities
Lead locations in Significant Injury and Fatality (SIF), Life Critical Policies and catastrophic risk reduction by providing training and education, coaching and mentoring.
Guide the development of business EHS policies and procedures.
Lead incident investigations and define risk classifications through proper risk assessment and implement control methods.
Develop and implement training programs
Collect data and analyze trends/gaps to make EHS recommendations for locations.
Collaborate with leaders to identify/classify near-miss and incident risks.
Ensure operations activities incorporate all necessary auditing, monitoring, reporting and inspections to comply with standards
Manage locations compliance and safety initiatives through company safety management system and make recommendations for improvements.
Management and oversight of Process Safety Management systems within the business unit
Key Environmental Responsibilities
Developing and preserving the standard operating procedures in accordance with the environmental compliance, interpreting the environmental disturbance risks, and communicating with environmental regulatory authorities for compliance assistance
Aiding Corporate Environmental in creating and developing presentation reports of environmental regulations and proceedings for submitting it to regulatory bodies.
Inspecting and evaluating the proceedings of organizational facilities with regards to compliance laws and regulations of local, state, and federal government.
Updating plans and specifications for managing the hazardous chemical substances, providing back up plan in case of emergencies like accidental spillage, and training the workers to handle the cleanup procedure with safety
Assisting in preparation of presentation files of emergency preparedness training for workers and employees, conducting workshop and seminars for training purposes, and developing the emergency management exercise
Conducting internal staff studies analysis for implementing the environmental procedures in regulatory compliance, preparing the reports and presentation documents regarding the compliance, and sending the same to regulatory authorities
Developing the management information systems for identifying the location of potentially hazardous materials, and tracking the maintenance operation of the same
Supervising the work of all the employees hired by the organization and outside contractors who are involved in handling the hazardous material, and investigating on any complains filed by employees regarding those hazardous materials
Maintaining all the records of process, handing, and shipment of the hazardous material, tracking its location and disposal details if required, and coordinate with the regulatory authorities regarding the same
Updating themselves on the latest development regarding environmental safety, new laws implemented in federal, state, or local regulatory bodies under the environment protection act, and related program areas assigned to them
Sampling the hazardous waste in industrial area, performing bulk sampling if required, carrying out the field work if required, and maintaining proper reports of sampling data
Coordinating with the waste management program developer and regulatory agencies, and providing advice and consultation to them within their area of expertise
Management and oversight of Risk Management Profiles throughout the business unit
