Overview
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Cloud Architect will be responsible for engaging with key stakeholders to define, document, monitor, and communicate cloud Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices for the designing, deployment, upgrading, monitoring, and supporting of cloud infrastructure solutions for our clients. This work will include creating and leading the governance of compliance with these SOPs and best practices. They will also work directly with a project manager to define quality control plans and will lead Senior Cloud Systems Engineers and Cloud Systems Engineers in the delay management of Client Azure environments.
This role will serve as the overall technical lead on a federal government contract which is responsible for cloud release management, ongoing operations (including the application of on-going standard maintenance patches and application of emergency patches in an Azure environment), release validation and testing, and ad-hoc application support. They will be responsible for defining the overall Client cloud technology roadmap and working with government security resources in the documentation and review of security controls for government Assessment and Authorization (A&A) for achieving initial and renewals of systems Authority to Operate (ATO).
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Engineering and Project Delivery
Responsible to design and lead a team to migrate on-premises workloads and systems to the cloud, as well as deployment of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) environments in the cloud as needed, to achieve desired outcomes.
Develop an approach to identify and prioritize cloud-suitable applications.
Support Client in selecting the right cloud service provider(s) and in negotiating end-user agreements for terms of service.
Defines the overall roadmap of future products that can be used to support Client's core business functions, and develop architectures within Client's chosen cloud service providers to allow Client to efficiently and effectively utilize and manage the resources therein.
Develop cloud infrastructure governance best practices and assist Client in developing business cases for moving products to the cloud.
Establish cloud support functions and structure for cloud services management and work with Client to establish an overall cloud strategy.
Work with Program/Project Manager to create Quality Control Plans for how to best manage Client environments.
Provide inputs into weekly and monthly status reports.
Support release of new applications into Client's cloud environment, including reviewing applications for readiness for production and compliance with Client SOPs and cloud best practices.
Work with Senior Cloud Architect to define and monitor adherence to Client cloud infrastructure governance, SOPs, and best practices.
IT Leadership
Serve as a senior IT advisor for federal Client and represent Client's IT departments in senior level meetings, requiring the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical staff and effectively communicating to all levels of the organization.
Coach/mentor Senior Cloud Systems Engineers in defining checklists to meet SOPs and best practices defined.
Serves as an escalation point for technical support for other team members.
Ensure client expectations are met and exceeded in terms of quality of product and service delivered.
Ensure Arctic IT's brand and image is represented appropriately.
Collaboration & Communication
Shares knowledge with team members and encourages others to do the same
Effectively communicates both technical and business needs within the team, the company, and all levels of Clients organization.
Appropriately escalates issues to team members, Arctic IT management, or external technical support.
Promotes knowledge sharing and efficiency through accurate and complete ticket notes, project notes, etc.
Mentor Senior Cloud Systems Engineers and Cloud Systems Engineers or technical team members.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of combined technical consulting, system administration, or Azure administration experience in an enterprise environment.
10+ years of industry and/or consulting experience.
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent field related experience.
Maintains current Microsoft certifications and other certifications as applicable.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure, , Active Directory and Azure AD and Exchange Solutions.
Must have valid state driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and auto insurance.
Applicants subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements related to the clearance process.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Telecommuters are expected to have sufficient home office space that appears neat, organized, and professional when on video meetings. Travel is required and varies around 25%.
