Purpose: Responsible for the development, execution, and measurement of internal associate communications within one of UNFI’s four U.S. regions driving alignment, engagement, and UNFI pride. Develops trusted cross-functional relationships guiding leaders and business partners with best practices that enable effective communications. Maintains a deep understanding of associate audiences and their needs, as well as region operations, to ensure impactful localization of communications.
Job Responsibilities:
Partner with regional leadership and cross-functional partners to develop and implement multichannel communications strategy for both non-desk and desk-based associates. Identify opportunities to segment audiences and localize key messages to enhance effectiveness.
Positions UNFI’s narrative across the region within various communications.
Develops innovative, strategic, and creative solutions to communication challenges to ensure key messages are effectively shared with all audiences.
Manages a region calendar that aligns to the corporate communications strategy.
Manages the region’s presence and audience segmentation needs on UNFI’s associate app and is responsible for initiatives to continuously grow associate registration.
Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to promote content on UNFI’s associate app and offer continuous support to leadership on best practices.
Manages projects in coordination with cross-functional partners and other members of the Communications team.
Develops and executes tactics to enhance the effectiveness of regional leadership communication methods.
Responsible for region metrics and reporting.
Interacts with Director of Associate Communications to define strategy and review progress
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field required
Experience:
5-7 years’ work experience in communications and/or public relations
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Excellent creative ability
Excellent abilities in planning, writing, editing, production and communications technology skills
Brings in-depth knowledge of communication best practices and experience in advising business partners
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-pressure environment, working in a strong team environment
Need to think both tactically and strategically and to effectively lead teams throughout the organization to effective and efficient communications solutions
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
Some travel may be required
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
