Summary Posted: Aug 2, 2022 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number:200408537 Apple is looking for a highly motivated Software or Tool Automation Engineer to join the Panel Process and Optics (PPO) Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing python software to control prototype test and fabrication equipment. These tools are developed in close collaboration with the engineering team and will be built for internal use. Responsibilities will span working with the team to identify relevant tests, drafting software workflow, crafting, prototyping and coding the control software, testing the behavior for correctness, performing and optimizing the tests, visualizing data and documenting the use for adoption by other team members. A successful candidate needs to be flexible, receptive to ideas from others, team oriented, and willing to work with technologists, engineers and others to push the technology envelop. Expect this work to include interfacing with multi-functional teams responsible for crafting and producing exciting new displays and assembly technologies. Key Qualifications Experience developing python code for laboratory test systems to measure optical performance of components, subassemblies and assemblies Experience with image or signal processing, preferably implemented in Python Attentive to detail, with demonstrated ability to produce professional, high-quality, documented code and accompanying theory of operation documents Hands-on experience with optical and electrical hardware a plus Flexible and collaborative, willing to work in fast paced product and technology development prototype assembly line Familiarity with data analysis methods is a plus Past experience with Python3, git, numpy, matplotlib, SQL, MatLab, wx, C++ Description The ideal candidate will be encouraged to work closely with other specialists to develop software to control lab hardware and implement algorithms to drive fabrication and metrology tools. These tools will also need to be interfaced to databases for efficient post processing. Software and Tool Automation Engineer starts at a minimum annual salary of $91,800. The actual pay may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
