Position Summary

This senior operations leadership position is responsible for the full organizational ownership of Epiq's Mass Tort Operations.  The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of activity including but not limited to cost center oversight, material management, staff planning, administrative functions, and process management. The Senior Director will be responsible for motivating a diverse and highly skilled operational team members as well as persuading leadership across the organization to deliver best results; this includes influencing results from departments outside of this leader’s direct ownership.  A wide degree of independence, innovation, leadership, and creativity is expected.  Attention to quality assurance and meeting client deadlines and deliverables are other key elements of the role.  A successful incumbent will possess a broad set of leadership skills that exceed the business operations and administration of the role, with communication, business judgment and dynamic partnership as expected proficiencies.

Job Responsibilities


  • Oversee a management team responsible for 24/7 workflow including medical record retrieval, medical record review, , lien resolution (Medicare, Medicaid, military and private), payments, and other production work to consistently meet client deliverables and organizational targets.

  • Participate in strategic planning with other leaders in the organization and execute on plan in partnership with other leaders as assigned.

  • Responsible for and manage revenue forecasting, working with Finance business partners to identify and analyze revenue recognition trends.

  • Provide regular situational reporting to Mass Tort leadership and the Executive Team on status, throughput, and productivity, including key performance indicators.

  • Work with direct reports to continuously review and update operating procedures to maximize efficiency and ensure ongoing improvement with an emphasis on productivity and best usage of equipment.

  • Staffing management for employees and temporary staff, including strong focus of labor cost, optimization, and minimizing overtime.

  • Performance management of full-time staff including ongoing coaching and feedback, disciplinary actions, annual objective setting and reviews and individual development plans for top performers.  Coach employees, train employees, conduct performance reviews

  • Maintain company standards, ensuring employees conduct aligns with company value.  Always ensuring Epiq upholds and maintains safe and adequate work environment.

  • Work effectively in a highly collaborative environment with a variety of business partners, including working closely with Human Resources, Finance, Procurement, Information Security, Product Development, Compliance, Research Intelligence Management, and Client Service leadership to optimize productivity and provide thought leadership.

  • Other special projects as assigned by the General Manager.

Required Qualifications & Characteristics


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • Ten plus years’ experience managing a production team with proven accomplishments that exemplify the ability to meet, if not exceed, the expectations of this position.

  • Preferred candidates will be familiar with a variety of the concepts, practices, and procedures relative to the mass tort business and industry and rely on experience and judgment to accomplish goals.  

  • Flexible and service-oriented; ready to contribute immediately to a dynamic and challenging environment with opportunity for growth.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for public presentation and delivery of subject matter expertise with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent project management/organizational skills and ability to balance numerous initiatives.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences, including the experience in presenting to Executive Leadership.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be dynamic as well as highly team- and service-oriented.

  • Commitment to professionalism and collegiality.

  • Ability to handle changing or competing priorities to support business needs.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
