The position Business Analyst (BA), Client Services is responsible for the review, and validation of both simple and complex plans of allocation in securities or antitrust administrations.  The BA acts as a consultant to the Project Managers and Project Coordinators, providing insight and direction based on their experience and understanding of securities and financial instruments. 

The BA has a working knowledge of securities, including how they can impact calculations and data used in the administration of a settlement. The BA will have familiarity with financial documentation and review documentation submitted in support of a claim.  The BA is responsible for understanding the requirements of a particular case and determining the handling of those securities in relation to not only the Plan of Allocation, but also deficiency noticing and general class member and client communications.  The BA will utilize their skill set to guide communication with and requirements for large institutional filers.  The BA is responsible for communicating these scenarios to the Project Manager and Project Coordinators. The BA may be required to translate functional requirements into requests from which developers can program and update the Plan of Allocation and the Senior BA will test and validate the results of each calculation module to ensure that it is properly applying the Plan of Allocation.  The BA works directly with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Data Analysts, QC Analysts, other BAs, department Team Leads, and other operational teams to understand all aspects of the case and to determine and document the data-oriented solution. 

 Job Responsibilities  

·              Understand the entire lifecycle of a class action or similar matter, determine what data is required based on settlement requirements, and define how that data and business rules will translate to the Plan of Allocation applications. This may include the review of corporate SEC filings for activity which could affect trading history.

·              Develop, publish and validate specifications, requirements, and other documentation, as required, specifically as it relates to the calculation module. 

·                Design or oversee design of documents which provide data mappings and procedural descriptions for use by electronic filers for loading of electronically filed data.

·                Independently investigate and provide critical review of large (either in number of transaction or size of loss), potentially fraudulent or invalid claims, including the review of underlying documents provided to validate the claim submission.

·                Using tools such as Excel, SQL Server, Oracle, and others, directly query, assess, and analyze data to ensure requirements are being met. 

·                Serve as liaison between Client Services (business) and Tech Ops (technical) to keep production work flowing smoothly. Help guide and mentor less experienced BAs in this capacity. 

·                Lead, conduct, or consult in testing and validation of the calculation module to ensure results are acceptable and meet requirements. 

·                Interact and correspond professionally with team members, project management, clients, and other stakeholders. 

·                Account for and accurately log time against project work. 

Qualifications  

·                Four-year college degree or equivalent industry experience.   

·                3+ years’ experience as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Process Specialist, or other roles where    

                business functional requirements are captured and decomposed. 

·                Proficient in MS Office tools, particularly Excel. 

·                Experience with relational databases and the ability to read and write moderately complex SQL. 

·                Understanding of data modeling and data organization. Ability to analyze data sets from external

                sources and map to an established relational data model. 

·                Ability to work in an environment with deadlines and shifting priorities. 

·               Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional, calm demeanor
