What You Will Do:

Identify and drive Learning Strategies

  • Design a learning and development strategy to build the leadership and technical skills of the future.
  • Remain current on industry trends, practices, technological advances and leverage that information to keep the WSBU offering cutting edge.
  • Develop internal communication strategies to keep internal learning opportunities top of mind and increase engagement in learning programs
  • Identify systems and technologies to support current and future learning needs

Develop and implement Technical Training Programs

  • Assess development needs of each of our Divisions and Groups to create progressive skill paths and support career advancement
  • Develop relationships with key internal technical stakeholders and keep informed of program development progress and priorities
  • Provide instructional design guidance and project management support to subject matter experts (SMEs) developing technical training programs. Ensure courses are developed and delivered on schedule at the right level off quality.
  • Provide internal “train the trainer” programs on facilitation best practices and coach improvement of their training and delivery skills.
  • Assess professional certification requirements and provide internal learning opportunities to meet licensing needs.

Develop and implement Leadership, Culture and Professional Skill development programs

  • Include the WSB Way in all learning programs to support high staff engagement.
  • Use instructional design best practices to create leadership development programs for leaders at all levels: Senior leaders, field leaders, newly promoted leaders, and future leaders.
  • Bring innovative ideas to our onboarding programs to ensure new hires are engaged with their teams and effective in their roles.
  • Partner with the Marketing team on the employee engagement survey and action plans.
  • Support compliance training efforts in collaboration with HR, IT and Safety.
  • Build internal talent pipelines through mentoring programs, intern programs and workforce development programs like Opportunity+.
  • Facilitate and present training as needed on topics related to leadership, culture and professional skill.

Create internal processes for learning excellence

  • Develop learning metrics and assess the effectiveness of internal training programs.
  • Schedule and track all training and development activities and materials.
  • Expand course offerings beyond the traditional classroom utilizing available technological tools and methods. This position will support learning and development at all our locations and for our field staff.

Manages the Systems, Vendors, Partnerships and Budget

  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with learning program vendors.
  • Develop partnerships with external organizations to provide mutually beneficial training opportunities / educational events.
  • Manage WSB's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure effective use of internal budgets and track/plan for future expenses.

This position reports directly to the VP of Human Resources and may include other duties necessary to grow our organizational effectiveness at WSB. There will be occasional travel for learning programs, meeting with stakeholders and external conferences.

What You Will Bring:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a field such as Human Resources, Training and Development, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration or Communications.
  • Our preferred candidate will have 8+ years' experience developing, implementing, and leading training initiatives to internal and external clients in a corporate setting.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.
  • Experience designing and delivering learning programs to a multi-state field audience.
  • Ability to indirectly coach & lead others.
  • Ability to provide constructive, data-led feedback.
  • Ability to navigate multiple requests, conflicting requests, and conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
