Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Medical Director serves as a member of the faculty to provide continuous, competent medical guidance to the Program Director and faculty. The Medical Director will assist the Program Director with development and ARC-PA accreditation for the program, and will assist in ensuring that both didactic instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care. The Medical Director may be involved in providing instruction; evaluating student performance; designing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating curriculum and evaluating the program. The Medical Director will also serve as an advocate for the program within the medical and academic communities.

EDUCATION:

Earned Doctor of Medicine degree and completion of residencies whose accreditation is duly recognized by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Current unrestricted license as an allopathic or osteopathic physician.

Current board certified by an ABMS or AOA specialty board.

Ability to effectively operate related equipment and machines for instructional purposes.

Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and machines such as computer terminal, calculator and copier.

Ability to manage and work effectively in a highly ethnic and culturally diverse student and associate community.

Ability to use effective communication skills, both oral and written, including presentations and effective listening skills.

Ability to speak before public groups, committees and meetings.

Ability to effectively use interpersonal skills, follow through with duties, provide attention to detail, and demonstrate the ability to motivate others.

Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Ability to exercise good judgment.

Ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures and assure compliance.

Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Ability to travel/drive locally on a weekly, daily and/or on an as needed basis.

Ability to demonstrate bilingual skills is a plus but not mandatory.
