Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, planning, shipping and storage, and distribution of the project’s goods.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.  

  • Manage all project-based procurement functions and assigned personnel including purchasing, material planning and warehousing.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership for personnel assigned to assist with procurement activities including recruitment, development, training and retention of staff.

  • Liaise with Project Program Manager and other departmental managers to resolve any technical or administrative challenges and improve the performance of the expediting department.

  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.

  • Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors effecting the supply chain.

  • Approve purchase orders including change management and close-out activities.

  • Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located at within the Suffolk Warehouse and others sites, and Work in Progress at Supplier locations.   

  • Procure and maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to support shipboard integration activities.

  • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggest improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and company profitability.

  • Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.

  • Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.

  • Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.

  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.

  • Direct processes and procedures of terms and conditions for purchase of equipment and materials.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 


  • Minimum of 5 years ’ experience as a Supply Chain Manager.

  • Hands on experience with supply chain management software (such as Costpoint or SAP).

  • Experience in Navy or other maritime logistics preferred.

  • Proven management experience to include training, leading and developing of assigned employees.

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.

  • Understanding of commercial terms and conditions.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success.

  • Team player mentality.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:


  • BA in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or similar relevant field highly preferred

  • Three years of experience as a supervisor, manager, or similar relevant position within a Supply Chain environment required.

Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
