DESCRIPTION
The GIS Analyst will join the Applied Technologies team in our Consulting and Technology Services vertical. He/she/they will be involved in a variety of GIS projects across the country, with an initial focus on identified projects in California. Responsibilities include hands-on evaluation and manipulation of spatial and attribute information, data conversion, cartographic mapping, and a willingness to increase skillsets with training, research, and working with teammates on potentially complex projects.

•Have a strong knowledge of GIS concepts and spatial relationships
•Reconcile results of geospatial analysis and prepare documentation and reports
•Provide reviews and comments on processes, guidelines, and standards in support of the Applied Technologies Organization
•Data procurement and quality assurance
•Ability to provide deliverables in a timely manner
•Ability to effectively communicate regarding data needs, priorities, and on support matters
•Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
•Must be able to communicate effectively
•Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams within Michael Baker International

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum two-year degree or applicable professional experience; Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in GIS, Geography, Science, or related field of study is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience working directly with GIS data, preferably in a consulting environment.
•1-2 years of experience with the Esri ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
•1-2 years of experience with Python and/or JavaScript is a plus, but not required.
•Cartographic map-making experience in ArcGIS.
•Must have the ability to work both independently, with limited supervision, and as part of a geographically dispersed team.
•Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
•Technical documentation development skills are a plus.
•Ability to translate technical concepts into layman's terms.
•Ability to coordinate with project stakeholders.
•Strong analytical abilities, solid analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify and solve client issues.
•Ability to travel occasionally, if a project warrants it.
• Preference that the candidate is in the Pacific Time Zone, or the ability to work West Coast business hours to meet client needs.

COMPENSATION

The range for this role is $52,000-$65,000. This will be dependent on the skills of the incoming candidate.

THIS POSITION IS 100% REMOTE, with strong preference someone located in Alaska or Nevada.
