The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston-Victoria is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Graphic Design.

Position summary: The position is based in Victoria, Texas. The successful candidate will be prepared to be fully engaged in the Victoria community, both within the university and beyond. The appointment is a nine month, tenure-track position with the following responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in the Communication Design and Studio Art Programs; participate in course and program development; pursue creative and professional activities; perform university and professional service; perform other duties as assigned by the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies; perform all other related activities as required. Typical teaching loads for this position are nine hours per semester. Rank and any time toward tenure will be determined in light of the successful candidate’s qualification. Applicants should have a terminal degree in a relevant field (MFA/DFA/PhD in Design or relevant field) by August 31, 2023; Ability to teach courses in digital and online design; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level; evidence of creative work and professional activities; and willingness to teach some online courses are required.

Preferred qualifications: Preferred candidates will have experience in professional UX/UI and possess a broad understanding of the design profession; experience teaching foundation classes; and interest and experience with program development as well as recruiting students. Applicants will preferably have an ability to work in multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary settings as well as with community college partners.
