Job Title: Manager, Engineering – Laboratory Test

Job Location: 35500 Chester Road, Avon, OH 44011

Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

Job Duties: This position is responsible for leading engineering team for the Test & Validation Engineering Group in North America, which will have responsibility for the successful completion of engineering projects, change requests, and the development and execution of the technical strategy for the product line and is responsible for field support for current products, improvement of current products and development of new products. This position directs a broad range of diversified and complex engineering technical activities within the Wheel End business team. The essential functions of the position include:

  • Executing approved policy decisions and demonstrating creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems, determining development objectives and requirements and developing standards for diverse engineering activities.

  • Providing leadership and guidance to the engineering department according to established Bendix Goal Tree priorities and is committed to developing a strong group of technical engineers to have the skill-set necessary to develop innovative technologies.

  • Utilizing resources both internal to Bendix and external to ensure project priorities are accomplished.

  • Driving development projects according to the PDC (Product Development & Commercialization) process, ensuring compliance for all projects.

  • Participating as the product technical lead in long-term project planning decisions; working with the Wheel-End Engineering Director to define next generation product requirements and specifications.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with global technical team and ensuring global designs meet regional regulatory and market requirements.

  • Continually monitoring and driving competitive benchmark technology and engineering process landscapes to identify industry and technology trends. Using this knowledge to develop strategies for new or complementary products, technologies, or processes for Bendix.

  • Communicating with customers and suppliers to ensure that products meet required specifications.

  • Driving and leading DVP&R processes.

  • Responsible for setting, maintaining, tracking and meeting relevant department KPIs.

Minimum Requirements: BS in Engineering discipline and ten years of experience as a Test Engineer (or related) in automotive or commercial vehicle industry. Must have experience in each of the following: (1) test engineering, including friction characterization, brake function and performance; (2) wheel end braking hardware; (3) principles and theories of brake engineering; (3) TS16949 & ISO9001 standards; and (4) Thought Process Map, Fishbone, and Design of Experiment (DOE).
