Job Description:

The Financial Services Compliance Analyst will work with the Money Transmission Compliance Officer and Sr. Regulatory and Compliance Counsel to ensure that legal obligations of regulated entities are met. This includes adherence to the requirements of the Banking Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT ACT, and Sanctions Compliance. The Financial Services Compliance Analyst will be responsible for conducting due diligence in accordance with Know Your Customer procedures and the Company’s Anti Money Laundering Policy. In addition, the Financial Services Compliance Analyst will be responsible for conducting transaction monitoring and sanctions alert reviews. The overall goal of this position is to provide support to the Compliance Officer and to ensure critical compliance tasks are completed in a timely, professional, and helpful manner.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Analytical (70%)


  • Conduct due diligence on new customers for regulated financial services in a timely and thorough manner, including reviewing submitted documentation, determining key data points, and making judgements about the information presented

  • Determine the initial risk rating of the customer based on documentation submitted and research of the expected transaction activity of the customer

  • Conduct due diligence on any backlogs in client onboardings.

  • Review ad hoc sanctions and negative news alerts to determine if any material risks are posed by customers, payees, related parties, or vendors.

  • Assess transaction monitoring alerts to determine if transactions make commercial sense for existing customers.

  • Evaluate customers and owners against sanctions lists using the ComplyAdvantage tool

  • Complete regular existing customer risk audits based on the risk level established during initial due diligence

  • Identify “Red Flags” or areas requiring further due diligence or escalation to senior compliance staff in the course of any of the above activities

Administrative (30%)


  • Ensure that documents and information obtained during due diligence are ready for regulator or audit review immediately following the review.

  • Assist senior compliance staff to pull reports, customer profiles, and data for regulators and audits.

  • Document all research performed in an orderly manner and update customer profile in Salesforce

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 2-3 years’ work experience and/or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the major responsibilities/essential functions of the position.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Office Suite. Knowledge of Salesforce and/or ComplyAdvantage systems a plus.
