Primary Job Responsibilities:
Certified Trainer for EHS and Compliance. This includes, but is not limited to:
Industrial Hygiene
Food Safety and Quality
Safety Procedures
SOP’s
JHA’s
Employee Procedures
Documents and Records
Devotes time to being on the manufacturing floor for continuous improvement activities including, but not limited to:
Shift Meetings
Near Miss Reporting
Behavior Observations
Internal Audits
Daily Inspections
5S
DOT
First Aid
AED’s
Eye Wash
Document and Process Review/Verification
Start of Shift Facility Inspection
Start of Shift Meeting
Knows when corrective action is necessary, as well as the appropriate corrective action procedures
Initiates appropriate corrective action as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Stop, Call, Wait
Stand Down
Near Miss / Unsafe Behavior / Behavior Observation System
Continuous Improvement
Production line shutdown
Requesting machine adjustments
Entering data into the supplier scorecard system
Trains new employees, current employees, and visitors on Food Safety, Quality, GMP, EHS, DOT, and Safe Workplace requirements
Accurate recording and maintenance of Food Safety, Quality, and Safety documents
Creation of Safety documents and records (e.g. procedures, checklists, charts, graphs); in conjunction with documents
Verification & validation activities for Safe Workplace Processes/Requirements
Presents Food Safety, Quality, EHS, and Safety information as needed. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Employee orientation and training
Meetings (e.g. production meetings, management meetings, safety meetings)
Strives for continuous improvement of current Safety systems, along with implementation of new systems
Participates in Monthly Facility Inspections
Completes Daily Walk-through of the Manufacturing Facility
Assists with External Audits
Assists in Document and Record Control Duties/Processes
Provides facility tours for visitors/vendors as needed
Assists with maintenance of an approved chemical list
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work within a team and coach employees
Experience in manufacturing environment, required
Problem solver
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Must be proficient in math and conversion of measurements
Ability to read SOPs and specifications
Exceptional follow-up and time management skills
Ability to be self-motivated with a focus for continuous process improvement
Ability to follow instructions and procedures precisely and consistently
Maintain a positive attitude
Must possess the ability to measure using a variety of instrumentation and equipment
Experience in Food Safety, Quality and/or Safety, preferred
Knowledgeable on Federal, State, Local, OSHA/IOSHA, and Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines
Education and Training:
Assoicate's degree in Business or Safety or three to four years of safety experience
SQF Practitioner (possess or ability to acquire)
BCSP Certifications/Designations GSP, ASP, OHST (Possess or ability to acquire)
