The Office of Business Services (OBS) manages University wide contracts providing services to students, faculty, and staff across the University including the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, Seminole Dining, FSU Bookstore, The UPS Store, Student Mail and Seminole Legacy Golf Club, as well as self-operates the FSUCard Services, Residential Housing Laundry Services, Postal Services, Warehouse Services, and Vending. The UBA program was established to provide academic and administrative units of Florida State University exemplary professional staff, customized business operations, and a proactive liaison relationship with the Division of Finance & Administration. Responsibilities

This position is responsible for performing accounting for various Auxiliary and E&G lines of business within the Office of Business Services (OBS).

  • Manages OBS accounts receivable billing and expense tracking for assigned lines of business. Tasks include data entry into the PeopleSoft system to generate invoices, key journal entries, and process payments; provide customer service to all stakeholders as needed to resolve discrepancies and respond to customer inquiries timely.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for OBS lines of business while ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as federal, state, University, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensure accurateness, completeness, and timeliness of customer orders, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation´s within FSU's PeopleSoft ERP system to the original source documentation for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Resolve discrepancies found, create and maintain queries and reports to facilitate the reconciliation process and monitor financial transactions and corrective actions.
  • Reviews and ensures OBS vendor compliance with contractual requirements, including timeliness and accuracy of commission payments, monthly reporting deliverables, and information and data request to support program results.
  • Identifies program deficiencies and opportunities for enhancements and develops and implements action plans to facilitate program improvements and alleviate deficiencies.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree and two years of related work experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Experience prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
  • Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Experience performing accurately in a detail oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Other Information

This position will be eligible to work remotely two days each week after completing six months with the University.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary of $40,000 - $50,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University. This is not a time limited position.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
