Job Description:

Everest Global Services, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd, a worldwide Reinsurance Company, is seeking a Data Architect to join the Everest Technology Services (ETS) Enterprise Architecture team, located at the US headquarters in Warren, New Jersey.

The Data Architect will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Technology Services, Architecture and Transformation with minimal supervision to drive the analytical and data vision for Everest Re Group, Ltd. In partnership with the Global Data and Analytics organization, this role will be accountable for the building the strategic roadmaps, communication across variety of audiences and adoption of new data and analytical services/platforms across the enterprise. The individual will provide technical leadership for a broad set of data solutions spanning traditional environments (RDBMS, ETL, etc...) as well as on big data technologies both on-prem and in the cloud.

Additional responsibilities including but are not limited to:

  • Drives "Cloud First" strategy and guiding principles for all initiatives

  • Maintain the Data Reference Architecture, architecture standards, and provides technical oversight to ensure initiatives are adhering to strategic direction

  • Maintain and evolve the data and analytical capability roadmap to align with current needs and future technology direction, including on-prem, hybrid and multi-Cloud

  • Collaborate with business leaders, solution architecture, application teams, infrastructure, and operations teams to translate functional requirements into technical requirements

  • Participate in establishing the enterprise data and analytical architecture vision, including strategies, standards, and framework, for Everest Technology Services that aligns with the overall business strategy and industry best practice

  • Serve as a trusted advisor by demonstrating thought leadership in the data and analytics domain, and providing advisory and consulting services to the enterprise as needed

  • Ensure compliance with corporate and IT policies and procedures

  • Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required

Work Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in creating and managing enterprise data and analytical architectures and solutions both on-prem and in the cloud.

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience and knowledge with ETL tools, technologies and development methodologies

  • Demonstrable experience architecting enterprise data and analytical solutions in Azure

  • Preferred professional certification such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect along with demonstrable knowledge of cloud standards, patterns, and best practices

  • Understanding of large scale batch processing

  • Understanding of large analytical environments, with many stakeholders, users, different (conflicting) sets of requirements, technology stacks

  • Understanding of conceptual, logical and physical data modeling

  • Proficient in Data Governance practices and experience

  • Experience designing and implementing data and analytical platforms that meet requirements for availability, resiliency, stability, scalability, and security

  • Experience in Event driven messaging applications - Kafka, MQ

  • Understanding and experience with web services, APIs and micro-services design and architecture

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability

  • Ability to take direction, demonstrate excellent teamwork, and work well with limited supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to see the long-term vision
