A Bit About You…
Purpose:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer role is responsible for creating and maintaining reporting, analytics and custom data solutions leveraged to drive data-driven decision making across the business, as well as contribute to projects and initiatives delivering data solutions for external customers. This role is accountable for using and implementing a variety of technology tools to provide operational reporting, data visualization solutions, and advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning, artificial intelligence) to the enterprise. The BI Engineer role achieves team and individual goals that align with broader IT goals and support the achievement of UNFI’s strategic imperatives.
Job Responsibilities:
• Builds analytical and data reporting solutions to deliver actionable insights by leveraging cloud-based tools and ensures appropriate documentation and artifacts exist for ongoing maintenance and operation activities
• Collaborates with diverse stakeholders to develop models and metrics providing insights for enterprise functions (e.g., supply chain, logistics, finance)
• Models problems of low to medium complexity and discover insights using statistics, data mining, and visualization techniques
• Follows BI engineering and data visualization best practices and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives for enterprise analytics and reporting
• Communicates issues impacting data solutions, project execution, and solution delivery
• Collaborates with data engineering and database administration teams on data management standards, data acquisition, data modeling, and performance tuning
• Adheres to department standards, guidelines, and data engineering and data visualization methodologies for all assigned tasks
• Understands project management methodology and contributes to estimation process
• Collaborates with other team members on data solutioning and problem-solving activities
• Stays abreast of emerging technologies and trends in Data Management, Data Engineering, and Advanced
Analytics disciplines to drive innovation into the organization
• Performs other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in the field of data science, computer science, information systems, or software engineering, or equivalent work-related experience required
Experience:
• 2+ years of quantitative data analysis, complex problem solving, and successful business intelligence, analytical and reporting solution delivery experience required
• 1+ years of data visualization technology implementation and maintenance experience required (e.g., Tableau, QuickSight, Power BI, etc.)
• Proficient in data mining and data modeling tools (e.g., SQL, SAS, Python, etc.
