Description:


The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Candidate must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases (ID).


Teaching responsibilities may include teaching Infectious Diseases fellows, residents and medical students.


Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient weeks at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) as well as outpatient sessions at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine (PCAM).


Research or scholarship responsibilities may include designing, implementing, and testing antimicrobial stewardship interventions in inpatient and outpatient settings as well as investigating the epidemiology and impact of antimicrobial use practices. Scholarship is required in the Clinician Educator Track.


The major focus of this position is to further develop the ID Division's research program focused on antimicrobial stewardship. Therefore, skills and experience in clinical research are highly desirable as is an interest in developing and testing the impact of antimicrobial stewardship interventions. We anticipate this individual will pursue independent funding to support patient oriented research focused on antimicrobial stewardship. This individual would also have the opportunity to assume a modest administrative role in the antimicrobial stewardship program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. As such, training and experience in applied antimicrobial stewardship in a variety of settings across the healthcare continuum would be desirable.


The selected candidate will have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Advanced training in epidemiologic research methods is also highly desirable.
