Cardiac Surgery :Cardiac surgery represents end stage treatment in the care continuum for many cardiovascular diseases and this OU provides an intimate relationship with the Cardiac Surgeon and Cardiac OR by offering an unparalleled depth and breadth of portfolio.

The Sr. Manufacturing Manager | Site Leader is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of operations strategies in Parker Colorado to meet safety, quality, production, cost and talent development objectives. You will lead a 3-shift cross functional manufacturing operation focused on building and supporting production of Disposable Cartridges (Micro Volume Liquid Cartridge Assembly) and ACT/HM Controls used in Cardiac Surgery Blood Management and Biologics. Managing 9 Direct Reports (Engineering, Manufacturing Supervisors, Facilities/EHS and Shipping/Receiving) and ~6 Site Staff Leaders (Quality, Human Resources, Finance) with a workforce of ~55 (Direct and Indirect Labor). You will Coach and provide direction for Technical Functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Implement innovations into practice for continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives, as well as supporting Maintenance of Business activities.

Problems and issues faced are difficult, and may require understanding of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. You will actively make improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the job area. Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements.


  • Lead existing manufacturing operations to ensure flawless execution and continuous improvementEmploy lean concepts and techniques, working closely with production leadership and Quality Assurance to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Plan and administer procedures and budgets.
  • Make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Select and develop personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
  • Develop comprehensive business strategies that assure success of the organization and takes ownership for all aspects of the associated value streams being managed.
  • Lead senior management with a responsibility to drive technical problem resolution, lead effective product introductions, meet quality objectives, customer demand and financial goals.
  • Must set clear priorities and assure performance against goals within those priorities.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives - Producing ~6.5 million cartridges/year.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
  • Lead the creation of the current-state and future-state value-stream maps and the implementation plan for getting from present to future.
  • In cooperation with the Managers of Purchasing and Planning, work to assure that all materials, information, and production meet internal and external deadlines, budgets and requirements. ~$9M COG
  • Manage functions to ensure that activities are performed in compliance with Medtronic's Quality System requirements and EHS policies.
  • Maintain conformance to budgetary limitations in all departments.
  • Recommend and implement training programs to address skill requirements necessary to facilitate internal promotions and job satisfaction to maximize productivity of production employees. As applicable, provides cross-training for production employees to ensure back-up personnel exist for all key positions.
  • Participate in cross-facility initiatives to determine company-wide best practices and the improvement of business processes.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant manufacturing experience within a regulated industry with 5+ years of managerial experience. Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience within a regulated industry with 5+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences.
  • Medical Device Manufacturing experience.
  • DMAIC Lean / Six Sigma Certification.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The incumbent should have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Experience delivering performance coaching and discipline to direct reports.
