Job Summary
This is an emergency essential position. The work schedule is a rotating 8-hour shift during the heating season.
These positions operate steam generating boilers & maintain proper steam pressure and water levels in a generating plant. Work includes keeping appropriate records, making adjustments and repairs to boilers and equipment; monitoring boiler plant systems and reporting potential problems.The Utility Plant Operator 1 performs a variety of semi-skilled manual duties associated with operation of boilers and related equipment.The Utility Plant Operator 2 performs a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work while serving as a lead worker for the semi-skilled utility plant staff. The Utility Plant Operator 2 will also assist with the maintenance of the utility's infrastructure.

The starting salary for the UPO2 position (40 hours) is $39,621 per the AFSCME CBA and the UPO1 position (40hrs) is $35,177 per the AFSCME CBA.
