Description:
Must live in the southwest region of the United States and will serve as an official representative of the university at fairs, high school visit days, admitted student receptions, admissions interviews, and other events in the region. Is responsible for establishing strong relationships with students, counselors, community-based organizations, and parents, in order to increase the quantity and quality of applications and enroll students from the region. Under the supervision of the Director of Freshman and Transfer Recruitment, creates and executes a strategic plan for recruitment and enrollment in the designated territory, using regular reports to inform decisions and planning. While working remotely, stays in close contact with the campus-based admissions office.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinates and is responsible for recruitment efforts in assigned territories. Represents Valparaiso University to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals and/or organizations involved in the college search and selection process
Maintains personal communication with regional constituents, and especially with interested schools, by phone, email, and written correspondence throughout the application and enrollment season
Plans and implements recruitment and communications activities for schools in assigned territory and represents Valparaiso University at college day/night programs and high school visits
Conducts student interviews and information sessions, to communicate distinctions of the college and to assess interest and academic potential
Communicates with students, families, and other college-choice influencers about the admissions process and opportunities at the college
Represents Valparaiso University for speeches, speaking engagements, conferences, and meetings as assigned
Participates in informal recruitment activities such as sporting events, musical performances, plays, and other activities
Reviews student applications and essays, make admissions decisions, and communicates with students and parents on admission status
Supports the Financial Aid Office by providing accurate information about the options and resources for funding education at the college
Collaborates with recruitment partners (coaches, faculty, departments, etc.) to coordinate efforts
Works with the Admission staff on a variety of departmental projects and actively participates in group meetings
Creates reports and documents activities following departmental procedures on a timely basis including regular progress updates
Attends periodic training and events on campus throughout the year, attends and participates in other meetings (especially weekly Staff Meetings) via Zoom, and makes mutually agreed-upon and regular visits to campus
Participates in local and regional professional associations
Additional Duties:
Interacts with and engages in the college's social media initiatives
Organizes and utilizes student information provided by external vendors
Other duties as assigned events; including the use of social media
Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of the CCPD
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor's degree
Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and organization skills
Proficiency in the following software: Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Google Suite
Ability to multi-task, and exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail
2-3 years of admission counseling or education outreach experience
Experience with student information systems
Proficient in Spanish
This position is Limited Full Time, 44 weeks per year
