Position Summary

We are actively seeking a Senior Research Associate (SRA) to join our Genotyping team to support the growth of our production capabilities at Benson Hill. The SRA will be accountable for understanding partner genotyping needs via forecasting and communicate it effectively to the Production team. The SRA will be action-oriented to ensure all projects arrive on time, they are within the lab's capacity and ensure that data is delivered on-time. The SRA will monitor and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for forecasting accuracy, data on-time delivery, as well as quality. The SRA will collaborate cross-functionally with our partners to gather feedback and generate corrective actions to ensure business needs are being met. The candidate will be accountable for continual improvement in the forecasting space and well as improving relationships with partners to streamline Operations across teams.

Responsibilities include:


  • Monitor and execute on a production forecast

  • Communicate effectively with the Genotyping Production team

  • Collaborate with customers to ensure business needs are met

  • Continual improvement on Genotyping Operations

  • Effectively communicate results in written and visual formats for our KPIs

  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced lab environment

  • Apply critical thinking to adapt plans and make decisions without all the information

You have

Education/Experience


  • Bachelor of Science in Plant biology, Life Sciences, or related field with 2+ years of experience in a production lab setting

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Smartsheet

  • Experience in strategic planning, critical thinking, execution on plans effectively

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and multi-functional teams to achieve common goals

  • Experience in GLP, ISO or similar quality management-driven lab environment

  • Experience in Genotyping is preferred, but not required

Preferred Skillset

  • Ability to work & collaborate with different teams and to develop/manage key relationships.

  • Familiarity with smartsheet, excel, Quicksight, Spotfire, etc. to pull data and create visualizations

  • Organized, attention and detailed oriented

  • Process improvement mindset with a strong drive to simplify complex operations

  • 1 year experience in multiple genotyping platforms (NGS, MAS)

  • Uses data to drive decision making and assess performance

  • Strong individual contributor

  • Ability to focus and work across multiple teams

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills
