Arthrex is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a Production Coordinator. This position will be located at the new Arthrex manufacturing facility in Pendleton, SC. The hours for this position are Night Shift (67:30pm to 6:00am Monday-Thursday). This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

If hired after 2/1/2022, you will be eligible for a $1,000.00 retention bonus (minus appropriate tax withholdings). You will be paid the first $500.00 after completing your first 90 days and the second $500.00 after completing your first 180 days, if you are an employee in good standing.

This position involves the assembly and testing of medical products and related packaging. Therefore, the work is performed in a clean room environment. Employees who work in clean rooms have a gowning process which includes wearing a hair net, lab coat and booties over shoes. Employees who work in clean rooms may not wear makeup, jewelry, perfumes, hair gels, fake eyelashes, fake nails, etc.

Main Objective:

To lead a team to assemble and package medical devices following Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. assembly and packaging processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Have strong/proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism at all times

• Possess the ability to effectively communicate with subordinates, quality personnel, and supervisors as it relates to ideas, questions, and concerns

• Familiarization with all departmental paperwork and adherence to company and departmental paperwork, policies and procedures

• Oversee output to ensure error free assembly and labeling

• Check materials (lot, PN and Qty.) prior to production use and request additional material as needed to avoid production downtime

• Verify and complete assigned portions of device history record and enter transactions in SAP accurately

• With input from the Packaging Supervisors, drive training, work order documentation control, Line separation & clearance for Clean Room Assembler, Packaging Machine Operator, and Senior Packaging-Machine Operator

• Review and verify blister and pouch sealer set up, ensure accuracy of burst test form completion and ensure all forms are printed directly from MQ1

• Ensure line personnel are following assembly by instructing first piece assembly, follow 1-piece flow and performing work to Line setup cards, when available

• Continuously monitoring lines for process improvement

• Ensure proper utilization of manpower for continuous flow manufacturing on the production line

• Interface with PHT system providing run rates and reporting production issues including downtime information

• Ability to train employees on new products, product line layouts, work instructions, packaging instructions, procedures and assembly techniques gained via experience. Provide explanations / reasons for techniques used and their cause

• Coordinate with Boxing personnel regarding product count and quality

• Material reconciliation and paperwork review

• Provide feedback, both positive and negative, as it relates to employee performance to Supervisor, or as directed by Supervisor

• Continue to strive towards self-development as well as departmental

• Notify Supervisor of any production, safety or performance issues as they arise

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• 1 year of manufacturing experience related to technical and mechanical aspect of manufacturing including operation of packaging equipment required

• Successful completion of the Leadership Development Program (Packaging)

• At least 1 year of experience in a lead / coordinator role in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred

• Experience in Lean manufacturing environment is preferred

• Experience with computerized manufacturing system is desirable (Oracle, SAP, etc.)

• Requires business language reading and comprehension, solving simple mathematical equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and the ability to perform tasks through verbal communication

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• A thorough knowledge of packaging process product assembly, visual inspection, packaging, sealing and boxing. Acquired blue print reading skills.

• Work Order problem solving and DHR documentation and reconciliation.

• Awareness of legal ramifications of actions such as favoritism, inappropriate comments, preferable treatment/assignments.

• Must have the ability to perform tasks by reading, understanding and following work instruction/documents provided.

• Knowledge and ability to interpret / comprehend packaging / work instructions.

• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.

• Knowledge of administrative procedures and computer systems such as word processing, managing files and records, Excel, Power Point, MQ1, SAP, and Microsoft Outlook.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Comprehension is required to perform the following operations / tasks; the occasional operation of the label printer, weighing scale, automated / semi-automated glue dispensing equipment , the frequent operation of the air guns, label dispenser machine, pouch and blister heat sealers, cleaning machine, crimping machine, arbor press, wire cutter and tygon tube cutter. Any advanced clean room specific equipment, such as; oven, robotic automatic laser marker, manual laser marker, induction bonding machines, torque fixture, comparator, micrometer, calipers, tappi chart, burst testing machine and other related inspection gauges.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
