Information Protection Senior Advisor

The Information Protection Senior Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic Security Architecture, creating Technology Baselines and related security guidance and patterns, and partnering across Cigna Information Protection to articulate risk and inform security decisions.

This is an exciting time to join the global security architecture team as we work to continuously develop our program to meet the needs of an Agile technology workforce and further build Cigna's security posture and improve customer experience. This position requires strong technical skills; the ability to work well in a team; and the ability to multitask and work on assignments independently.

What You'll Be Doing...

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:


  • Partners with stakeholders such as the Cloud Center of Enablement as well as matrix teams within Cigna Information Protection

  • Partners with the enterprise to develop and implement security solutions and capabilities that are aligned with industry frameworks as well as business, technology and threat drivers.

  • Assists in Improving the overall intake progress for shared services.

  • Serves as an information security expert and trusted advisor to partners in technology and the business to enable them to make informed risk management decisions.

  • Identifies opportunities to improve risk posture, developing solutions for remediating or mitigating risks and assessing residual risk.

  • Maintains strong working relationships with individuals and groups involved in managing information risks across the organization.

  • Applying knowledge of NIST, CIS or other security frameworks

  • Stays up-to-date on current and emerging security threats and designs security architectures to mitigate them.

What We're Looking For..

You'll need to have...


  • BS or MA in Business, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field

  • 3-5 years of experience with regulatory compliance and information security management frameworks (NIST 800, CIS etc.)

  • Experience with AWS & Azure Cloud for IaaS, SaaS, & PaaS with in-depth knowledge of:

    • Encryption and when to apply

    • Network security & VPCs

    • Understanding legacy system migration to the cloud

    • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines

    • Cloud Services




  • Experience defining enterprise security architecture baselines and patterns

  • Proven track record of partnering with development and business teams to ensure secure application solutions

  • Experience in incorporating automated security controls into a DevOps process

  • Demonstrated experience with Data-Loss Prevention (DLP), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Continuous Compliance Platforms, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools

Even better if you have...


  • Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and/or Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), AWS Security Specialty, AWS, Security Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect Design, Microsoft Azure Security Technologies, etc.

  • Working knowledge or understanding of following technologies/protocols/methodologies:

    • Application Mapping

    • Application Programming Interfaces (API's), authorization schemes, integration, RESTFul API design, Spring Frameworks, XML, JSON, SOAP and Web Services

    • Containerization

    • DevOps/DevSecOps

    • Federated identity, OAuth, SAML, SOAP, Open ID

    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

    • Integration patterns, asynchronous and synchronous processes, long running tasks and orchestration.

    • Microservices

    • Mobile

    • OpenStack, ACI, Openshift, Docker

    • OWASP

    • Software Defined Network

    • Virtualization



If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 105,300 - 175,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
