Benefits Technology Consultant at Cigna in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

This mission critical position is the benefits technology communication fulcrum between Supplemental Health Solutions (SHS) internal Cigna stakeholders, Cigna sales, technology vendor sales, and enrollment firms that support all of Cigna's Buyer Groups and products.

The Consultant is the go-to resource for Cigna sales teams as it relates to the articulation of the value proposition associated with our vendor relationships, vetted enrollment firms, and integrations in support of their sales efforts. The Consultant builds and maintains a high level of technical and distribution knowledge about both Cigna's 11 contracted vendors and also about 20 other non-contracted Benefit Administration Vendors that will allow them to act as the subject matter expert (SME) in conversations with internal stakeholders, brokers, and clients. The role is also responsible for communication of Cigna's third-party medical integration communication and field navigation.

Specific Accountabilities:


  • Act as the SME resource for an assigned geography in regard to both Benefits Administration Vendors and Enrollment Vendors.

  • Build and maintain necessary technical knowledge on about 30 technology solutions and vendor partners.

  • Provide Point of Purchase direction and execution to sales and account management during the sales/renewal process as well as during implementation.

  • Participate in client and broker presentations as Subject Matter Expert in regard to Technology Vendor relationship values, specific client/broker needs, the implementation process, and ongoing service procedures.

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with aligned sales teams, local market leadership, enrollment firms, and BAV sales teams to ensure ongoing growth in membership, revenue and earnings.

  • Responsible for training of sales teams, ensuring they establish a solid working knowledge Vendor relationships and the value they provide to Cigna and its clients.

  • Owns the communication of Cigna's third party medical integration strategy and capabilities and identifies opportunities for influence.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, health management or related field; with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the insurance industry.

  • Extensive experience with benefits brokers, Supplemental Health benefits, Benefit Administration Vendors, and enrollment firms.

  • Sales, consulting, and/or third party vendor relationship management experience required.

  • Proven track record of developing solid strategies with third party vendors.

  • Ability to navigate a highly complex matrix organization to find the right resources to help solve client technology needs.

  • Ability to identify strategic needs, with little direction, resource key projects, and lead management with sound business direction based on market findings.

  • Open minded and creative - seeks 'out of box' solutions.

  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to ensure successful outcomes.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 94,400 - 157,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
