POSITION OVERVIEW


The Staff Accountant, Shared Services Accounting serves a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely recording of accounts receivable collections and reconciliation of accounts receivable balances for Cheniere Energy, Inc. and its subsidiaries (individually and collectively, the “Company”).  Primary responsibilities include accounting for and reconciling accounts receivable balances, ensuring cash collections of open accounts receivable balances are accurately and timely processed subject to Company policies and internal controls requirements.  The position will also be responsible for various payables disbursements and other areas of Shared Services Accounting as needed.  This role will interact closely with multiple departments, including Commodity Accounting, Accounts Payable, Intercompany Accounting, Treasury, Corporate Accounting, and Credit Risk.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Complete daily processing of AR cash collections for multiple entities and bank accounts

  • Responsible for the monthly close of the Oracle AR module and reconciliation of AR subledgers to the GL

  • Coordinate the quarterly assessment of bad debt reserve in accordance with the current expected credit losses accounting policy, including recording entries to adjust the bad debt reserve

  • Responsible for recording bad debt write-offs and ensuring all write-offs are approved and comply with AR, Credit Loss, and Unclaimed Property accounting policies

  • Process Inter-company payment netting routines, zero payments, or other clearing payment functions 

  • Monitor, participate in and assist with the enhancement of formal processes for internal controls surrounding accounts receivable to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements

  • Support and serve as a backup to other members of the team (process check, wire and ACH payments, reconcile accounts and prepare account analyses)

  • Additional tasks assigned by the Manager, Shared Services Accounting Manager


 


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)




  • Education and Certifications:   Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or closely related field of study is required. Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or in active pursuit of CPA license is preferred.


  • Experience: 2+ years of applicable accounting experience, including experience with (i) accounts receivable, (ii) general accounting, (iii) account reconciliations. Experience with Oracle ERP and Hyperion is preferred.


  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization

    • Capacity to integrate and balance priorities effectively

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel

    • Ability to think critically and independently

    • Ability to manage multiple activities on tight time deadlines with a high degree of accuracy

    • Ability to anticipate and surface issues, solve problems and recommend solutions and process improvements, while exercising good business judgement

    • Detail oriented

    • Ability to start work early to support UK operations and banking hours preferred.

WORK CONDITIONS



  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others

  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends
