The Welded Heat Exchanger (WHE) Repair Mechanic Team Leader will act as the go-to resource for all WHE inspections, supply scope, repair processes, and documentation. Working directly with the Technical Coordinators and Management on all WHE production needs. 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):

  • Able to perform and complete, as well as give accurate and professional direction on all WHE processes, including opening units, bubble test, complete disassembly, gasket removal, lifting, moving standing up/laying down CP hearts, dye penetration inspection, pressure washing, gasketing, repairing, removing and installing baffle cages, assembly, closing, torqueing and pressure testing

  • Maintains a solid knowledge base of Alfa Laval approved SOPs/WIs for all primary WHE processes

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting quality issues on customer equipment, and effectively communicate AL parts and workmanship quality concerns

  • Inspect, service, test and package following SOPs, Quality standards and Safety guidelines

  • Works from drawings, parts lists, blueprints, charts, tables and graphs

  • Follows job-specific quality plans and drawings to repair products and complete jobs

  • Responsible for accurately completing Service Reports with pictures, notations and recommendations

  • Recognizes and communicates the need for replenishment of supplies, tools, need repair parts and other facility needs to supervision in a timely manner

  • Update daily shop production schedule as individual processes are completed

  • Maintains 5S cleanliness and organization, and drives 5S initiatives

  • Perform daily safety tasks (i.e. daily forklift inspections, lock out/tag out, under hook chain/sling inspections, First Responder duties, Safety Committee meetings & duties)

  • May be asked to perform field service work from time to time (not frequent or required)

  • Leads On-The-Job training for self and others as directed on all AL approved SOP’s and WI’s

  • Active and positive participant in ALPS and improvement initiatives.

  • Review active projects in shop to ensure all needed equipment and parts are on hand for production

  • Assist in assembling work floor job packets and confirm all required documentation is present

  • Effectively utilizes AL programs (Installed Base, ALSO, OPTO, AL Service Tools, etc.) to retrieve documents and update job status as needed

  • Communicates with customer service and other service centers on parts shortages, supply needs, questions with orders, etc. as needed

  • Perform work in other areas as needed to level work load

  • Perform other duties as directed by Management
