UWC Endorsement Core Supervisor at Chubb in Phoenix, Arizona

 We currently have an opening for an Underwriting Center Endorsement Core Supervisor.

 As a member of the UWC team, this position is accountable, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, for people management, process management, and financial management of the Underwriting Center’s Commercial Express and Endorsement teams. 

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • 3-4 years of supervisory experience preferred

  • 2-3 years of CI underwriting experience mandatory

  • Technically sound with Chubb applications including but not limited to CUW, WIP, Tracker and CI rating systems.

  • Proven leadership capabilities with ability to manage a large team of professionals

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Effective influence/collaboration capabilities

  • Must be able to effectively multitask and balance multiple priorities

  • Results oriented

  • Superior communication, interpersonal and process management skills with the ability to train others in a classroom environment or one-on-one on workflows and systems.

  • Demonstrated record of teamwork, managerial courage, and integrity.

Major Duties/Responsibilities of the Job:

 People Management:


  • Direct accountability for the hiring, training and performance management of the Commercial Express and Endorsement teams.

  • Ensure that employees know what is expected of them by: setting clear goals/expectations, providing on-going performance coaching, and conducting annual performance reviews.  Differentiate rewards and recognition commensurate with performance.

  • Coach underperformers to improve their performance by creating and executing performance improvement plans.

  • Identify and ensure all staff receives necessary or required training in order to successfully perform job functions.

  • Complete 100% of performance reviews and goals by the corporate due date.

  • Develop staff, motivate performance, and manage compensation to maximize the value and contributions of these resources.

Underwriting Management:


  • Gain and/or maintain appropriate underwriting authority grant from assigned customer groups and industry practices.

  • Act as first line referral source for Endorsement Underwriters and coordinate with Executive Field Underwriters and Home Office on endorsement referral escalations.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding on all applicable underwriting and corporate strategies.

  • Collaborate with UWC Practice Leads and Renewal Team Leads on UWC strategies, distribution management, workflows, and branch relationships.

Process Management:


  • Monitor, manage and oversee workload capacity of each team member and adjust as appropriate.

  • Manage team to ensure all endorsements are issued with the UWC service goals.

  • Collaborate with the processing centers to ensure service delivery and quality policy issuance for policies written in the UWC.

  • Monthly communication of business unit results to leadership team

  • Monitor team organizational skills and production output to create capacity within departments.

  • Adhere to all workflows and procedures in compliance with corporate and branch strategies.

  • Support processing center to ensure timely processing of transactions to ensure throughput results are within UWC and corporate guidelines.

  • Continue to implement Commercial Express processing guidelines to assure the most efficient utilization of resources on this business.

  • Communicate and train to workflow changes and TPM’s pertaining to underwriting and/or Commercial Express.

  • Ensure quality results are consistent with corporate standards by addressing and training in areas of concerns brought forth from CI audit scores, random self checks, and other audits.

  • Perform quality checks on staff to ensure proper underwriting of endorsements per CI and compliance requirements.

 Financial Management:


  • Achieve key endorsement metrics by managing the endorsement triage process and staff.

  • Work with underwriting partners to assist in meeting their business and operational goals.

  • Work with Operations manager to manage controllable expenses.

  • Work with Operations manager to increase overall staff productivity and gain efficiencies in the UWC’s as measured by premium, customer count, and IFC/UW.

  • Ensure timely transfer of eligible business to UWC’s and maximize utilization of available technology by working with each of the branch Operations managers.

Other:


  • Contribute to the development and execution of the underwriting centers strategy and business model.


  • May serve as a backup or second point of contact for internal and external partners regarding day-to-day operations, facilities management, expense management, process management, and people management.
