Program Manager at College Success Foundation in Mount Vernon, Washington

Job Description:

The Program Manager will provide regional direction and leadership to staff implementing College Success Foundation's pipeline of integrated student support services to include, but not limited to College Preparatory Advisors (CPA), Higher Education Readiness Opportunity (HERO), Assistant Program Officer (APO) or AmeriCorps members. The Program Manager will manage and strategize a pipeline of integrated student services which may include, but not limited to early college awareness, personal and leadership development, college planning, and promotion of CSF administered or other scholarship programs. The Program Manager recommends, participates and implements policies, procedures and materials to ensure multi-program goals are met for the region. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day to day personnel and program management to include but not limited program initiatives, training, staffing/recruiting, time and attendance, performance management process, and event planning. Recommends salary adjustments, transfers, promotions and corrective action measurements, as necessary or required.
  • In conjunction with Director of Programs, manage and administer adopted site budget in a cost effective manner. May be required to participate in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Reviews ongoing performance results to targets. Takes corrective measures with authorization and escalate as needed.
    Keeps Director(s) promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Manage collaborative efforts with teachers, principals, colleague access providers and community based organizations to promote college opportunities for students. May be required to facilitate programming at new sites to meet the demands of the organization.
  • Collaborate and work closely with, but not limited to office staff, program staff, national office, Director of Programs, CSF National Program Directors, Executive Directors on initiatives or matters that will have a direct impact to the regional site or the Foundation.
  • Manage, sustain and deliver on program development initiatives, scholarship programing partnerships, and partner-sponsored events.
  • Ensures fidelity of student and program data by overseeing data collection practices that are accurate, timely and in accordance with CSF policy.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex program management.
  • Budget and fiscal discipline.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, build consensus, and speak in public.
  • An established commitment to work collaboratively and harmoniously with CSF staff, colleagues and

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Organizing, performing, and prioritizing multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
  • Handle a variety of tasks and projects on an ongoing basis, including meetings with staff, students,
    school personnel, parents/guardians, Foundation staff and other community resource persons.
  • Utilize proactive approaches to problem-solving with decision-making capability.
  • Build relationship with diverse stakeholders, including staff and external partners.
  • Be a "self-starter", able to work independently while observing and complying with all standards of the
    supervision personnel and relating programs and services of the employer.
  • Attend and participate in community functions, all CSF events and programs that will enhance the
    visibility of our programs.
  • Attend occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in fields such as education, youth development, or policy work.
  • Five years prior supervisory or management experience highly desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment is moderately noisy. The employee is constantly required to work near conveyor systems. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Employee must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting strenuous customer deadlines, working in high volume areas, and be flexible and able to interact with employees at all levels.
