Category Manager

Nashville, TN / Phoenix, AZ / Philadelphia, PA (Open to Remote)

The Category Manager for Mars Fishcare is accountable for developing robust category strategies based on an unbiased category responsible lens rooted in Consumer/Shopper Insights and leverage category knowledge and analysis with team to drive category growth for the business.

What are we looking for?


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of Category Management / CPG experience

  • Strong working knowledge of JDA (Prospace, Space Planning)

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Word)

  • Syndicated data experience (Nielsen / IRI)

  • Loyalty Card data experience (e.g. EYC Shopper 360)

  • Strong planning, project and time management skills to ensure adherence to aggressive timelines

  • Ability to convey information using written and oral communication tools that compel merchant decision making and action

What would be your key responsibilities?


  • Developing strategic alliances with key decision makers at specific retailers.

  • Collaborating and leading the planogram process with customers to grow the category.

  • Proactively identifying strategic category opportunities for our customers at both business planning timing and on an on-going basis.

  • Developing and disseminating category management best practices to be utilized with other customers working with the Category Manager.

  • Managing and developing expertise in external market and consumer data sources (Nielsen, Stackline and Shopper Insights) understanding the needs of the shopper and what their drivers are for success.

  • Managing and developing expertise in customer specific POS data (developing reports collaborating with the customer); leveraging data to create and deploy actionable customer specific insights

  • Provides Customer specific selling-stories in support of new product launches across all manufacturers (unbiased category facts) and act as advisor on customer's promotional calendar.

  • Champion strategic and ad-hoc shelf management for the category to maximize category and customer's sales and profits.
