What the job is: The Orchard Technician (I, II & III) is a new role within the company and will join the existing eight-person Land and Forest Management (LFM) department. This team is responsible for the silvicultural activities on 312,000 acres of working forests in the NW Timberlands Division based out of Shelton, WA. The Orchard Technician will help set the strategic direction of the Seed Orchard at Green Diamond.

Here are some examples of the work this role will do:

Manage the Northwest Timberlands Conifer Seed Orchard and assist with management of the Tree Improvement Program.
Apply fertilizer and pesticides, maintain irrigation system, mowing, tree grafting, pruning, conduct surveys, and annual cone harvest.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Seed Orchard, including locating, hiring, and overseeing contractors who help with orchard operations.
Watch for diseases and insect pests and work quickly to prescribe and administer treatments.
Assist with planning and carrying out additional projects and enhancements as newer genetic material becomes available applying this knowledge and experience to the Seed Orchard operation.
Occasionally assist in other forestry operations, including reforestation, pre-commercial thinning, herbicide application, site preparation, and burning.

This role has three tiers:

Orchard Technician I - Typically has 1 -2 years of working experience
Orchard Technician II - Typically has 3 -5 years of working experience
Orchard Technician III - Typically has 5+ years of working experience

Compensation Details:

Orchard Technician I: $19.47 - $29.21
Orchard Technician II: $20.75 - $31.12
Orchard Technician III: $22.10 - $33.16

The pay range listed is just one component of Green Diamond's total compensation package.
