Primary Role

This engineering internship experience will introduce you to the exciting career opportunities in the water and wastewater field at Pennsylvania American Water.

The successful candidate will: Learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resiliency and sustainability, Work with a team of Engineers to develop water supply plans, asset management plans and support various types of engineering and construction projects and programs for the company's water and wastewater systems.

This position will last approximately 8-12 weeks and will work Monday-Friday (dayshift) out of the McMurray, PA area.

Knowledge/Skills


  • Detail oriented to conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, render and implement timely decisions and recommendations

  • Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to seek input/feedback and coordinate with staff

  • Good communication skills

  • Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases and software to support specific assignments

  • Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

Experience/Education


  • Enrollment in Engineering degree program

  • Minimum of 2 years of completed engineering course work

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide engineering support to both engineers and operational staff

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Must be able to pass a background check
