Purchasing Supervisor (Harrah's Nebraska) at Caesars Entertainment in Columbus, Nebraska

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists internal customers in product/service specification and selection by providing professional and current information on market availability, pricing, vendor reliability and service for consideration.
• Recommends substitutes for cost reduction, early delivery, or other appropriate considerations.
• Applies professional purchasing techniques during vendor negotiations, and enhances the positive perception of internal customers and outside vendors on the "fairness" of Harrah's policies, procedures, and purchasing personnel by selecting the sources of goods and services strictly on the basis of "highest value."
• Follows and ensures that all Harrah's Columbus purchasing guidelines are being followed 100% of the time.
• Establishes, maintains, and controls a system of activity documentation to ensure such activity conforms to established policies and procedures.
• Prepares analyses and reports as requested by management or internal guests, and places the order after proper procedures and approvals are made.
• Creates and ensures an environment conducive to the fostering of teamwork, employee morale, motivation and open communication.
• Coaches and develops employees utilizing a consistent, approachable demeanor while clearly articulating expectations.
• Directs and supports all purchasing employees to achieve department goals and objectives.
• Ensures all purchasing personnel are well trained with an emphasis on proper receipt and storage of materials, equipment merchandise and supplies.
• Ensures that all the security procedures are followed.
• Assists with the interviewing and hiring of new personnel
• Prepares appropriate employee evaluations in a timely manner as requested by the Director of Finance.
• Acts as a role model to other employees and always presents oneself as a credit to Harrah's and encourages others to do the same.
• Endorses the business objectives, ethics and values of Harrah's Entertainment Inc.
• Adheres to all regulatory, company and department policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration preferred.
• A minimum of two years in purchasing preferred. Food & Beverage purchasing experience preferred.
• One year in a supervisory capacity preferred.
• Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers/vendors.
• Must possess excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Access is preferred.

• Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to lift up to 20lbs, and ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when stocking, storing, and maneuvering around the work area.
