Job Description Summary

The Sr Engineer, Cutting Systems will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Lamb Weston potato cutting equipment. The incumbent will serve as a critical team member during the planning and installation of new cutting systems. This position also audits the currently installed cutting systems to identify process improvements and make recommendations for training, operational best practices, and capital projects that will reduce both expenses as well as waste. Further, this role will provide cutting expertise to all plants in identification of opportunities to reduce unplanned mechanical downtime and applying critical equipment failure root cause learnings across the manufacturing network.

Job Description

  • Provide leadership in establishing safety of all our associates to World Class Safety and Zero Incidents as the team's first objective.

  • Support and provide Leadership in Quality and Food Safety to achieve goals of Zero Foreign Material.

  • Review all proposed cutting system plans to ensure that Lamb Weston standards are met.

  • Work with Plant and Global Engineering teams to ensure proposed cutting systems meet desired VSU targets.

  • Serve as a liaison between Plant Operations, Global Engineering, and Technical Innovation to ensure the needs of the plants are being incorporated in Lamb Weston Standards and future cutting equipment development.

  • Identify the training needs of operations to ensure equipment is operated according to best practices.

  • Work closely with plant maintenance and reliability personnel to ensure the cutting equipment is properly maintained and operated to maximize quality and reduce unplanned downtime.

  • Foster a team-based problem-solving methodology.

  • Demonstrate organizational maturity through decision making and effective communication with various departments and managers to ensure cutting team resources are efficiently utilized in maximizing true efficiency.

  • Prepare and maintain meeting agendas and minutes.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering required.

  • PE licensing preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Food Manufacturing.

  • Ten years of experience with equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

  • Leadership skills to work as both a leader and a peer advisor to other departments.

  • Ability to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays when required.

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time, with some peaks exceeding 25%.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; computer applications skills.

Physical Requirements:

Incumbent must have the ability to effectively perform all of the following physical demands without assistance:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Sitting for up to 8 hours a day.

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Walking on various manufacturing facility surfaces.

  • Exposure to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.

  • Occasionally required to use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell.

  • Climbing up ladders and stairs.

  • Exposure to temperature changes from hot to cold.

  • Ability to safely operate a Company vehicle.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $92,420.00 - $138,640.00
