Job Description:

The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications in the Department of Teaching and Learning Sciences (TLS) for a one-year, nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice. This is a benefited, full-time, one-year visiting appointment (non-tenure track) for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Located in the city of Denver, DU is the oldest and largest independent university in the Rocky Mountain Region with high research activity and enrolls approximately 12,000 students in its undergraduate, graduate, and professional preparation programs. We seek a candidate with a proven record of excellence in teaching, supervision, mentoring/advising, and clinical work, as well as who values our mission of serving the public good and inclusive excellence. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion through their teaching and service. The ideal candidate demonstrates experience and versatility in inclusive pedagogy. The position will require an innovative and critical thinker who can work within a dynamic and inter-professional environment.

Essential Functions

Specific responsibilities include teaching masters, education specialist, and doctoral courses as well as advising graduate students in school psychology program and serving on program, department, and college committees.

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants are required to have an earned doctorate in school psychology, or a closely related field by the start of the position
  • Prior experience in teaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated knowledge, experience, and versatility in inclusive pedagogy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the graduate level
  • Although the area of specialty is open, we are seeking candidates who can advance our department priorities by teaching courses related to psychological assessment, prevention, intervention, and consultation with family, school, and community professionals.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$62,700.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
