Position Summary

The University of Denver Sturm College of Law seeks to hire one or more visiting faculty members, at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, for one or both semesters of the 2022-23 academic year, with the possibility of renewal for the 2023-2024 academic year. We seek candidates with J.D. degrees (or their equivalent), exceptional academic records, relevant professional experience, and a commitment to outstanding and inclusive classroom teaching.

Although candidates across a range of subject matter areas are invited to apply, we anticipate particular needs in (1) our Criminal Defense Clinic, which represents low-income clients charged with misdemeanors and municipal ordinance violations; (2) our Civil Rights Clinic, which represents federal and state prisoners in cases involving conditions of confinement; (3) first-year doctrinal classes, particularly Civil Procedure; and (4) various upper-division elective courses in corporate and commercial law, employment law, and other fields.

Essential Functions

The University, through its faculty, shall engage in a variety of professional functions, such as teaching, scholarly research and/or creative activity, shared governance, and professional/public service. The relative priority of these functions carried out by colleges, schools, divisions, departments, centers, and individual faculty members should and does vary.

Required Qualifications

  • JD or equivalent degree
  • Experience in law school teaching

Salary Grade:

The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:

$40,000-$125,000 per semester (dependent on rank and experience)
