Environmental Health & Safety Manager

The EHS Manager communicates procedures that improve the health and safety of the employees. Responsible for workplace inspections and identifies the risks that pose threats, to include risks associated with machinery, equipment, chemicals, processes, safety committees, and provide training to employees . Develop and implement safety& environmental programs and policies, train personnel on new protocols, and ensure that the plant is in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations

Salary: 86K to 129K (depending on experience)

Responsibility

Safety Regulatory Compliance and Risk Reduction


  • Manage/mentors direct report(s) to build knowledge in regulatory compliance and risk reduction. x

  • Review capital projects and provide EHS input.

  • Develop and implement site specific safety programs and conduct inspections

  • Identifying Safety Hazards and implementing corrective actions.

  • Maintain records of incidents (near miss, first aid, recordable, etc.) and Lead Incident Investigations

  • Communicate to the Plant Manager and Division EHS staff regarding the status of open Action Plans and other metrics as requested.

  • Training: Prepare, schedule, and present OSHA and EHS program training. Set up outside training regarding Regulatory and Non-regulatory safety requirements for the facility.

  • Track required employee training and notify supervisors when employee training is incomplete.

Environmental Regulatory Compliance and Risk Reduction


  • Conducting routine compliance inspections and complete reporting requirements for required environmental compliance programs (Ex. Air emissions, SPCC, storm water, spill reporting, hazardous waste, wastewater, etc.)

  • Develop focused communications and issues resolutions plan related to compliance.

  • Participate in Monthly Environmental Meetings

  • Provide leadership in plant environmental programs and compliance

  • Ensures effective execution of plant environmental programs and policies.

  • Administers and implement proactive environmental management system.

  • Determine plant environmental footprint and develop and implement proactive resource conservation program.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned, in support business EHS needs.

Resource Conservation

  • Resource Conservation: Develop and Lead Plant resource conservation programs in water, wastewater, energy, and recycling.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Traits:


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to motivate and direct others.

  • Ability to work within a team environment.


Experience-Education (Required):

  • A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) is required. Preferred discipline in Safety Management or Engineering discipline.

  • A minimum of 3 years of EHS Management experience at Land O'Lakes OR 5 years EHS Management experience outside of Land O'Lakes is required.

  • Experience in providing training in safety management and develop standards.

  • Preferred Certifications: PE, FET, CSP, ASP, CHMM,

Physical Demands:


  • Will need to be able to work in a hot environment where temperatures can vary from 58° to 105° degrees.

  • Will need to be available to work overtime, weekends including Saturday and Sunday based on production needs.
