Job Description:


Basic Job Functions:




Improve safety and support manufacturing/business/maintenance operationsthrough development, commissioning, integration, and maintenance of automated systems.Focus on continuous improvement of Nucor technical knowledge and skills using software development for high availability applications. Ensure high reliability for our Technological Infrastructure to drive business results. Work with the Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance and Production teams to maintain and optimize the Melt Shop and Roll Mill processes using Control System Theory. Perform software development of high availability applications in Level 1 through PLC programming in Allen Bradley, GE and Siemens; Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) including Wonderware, Archestra, and Factory Talk; and Level 2 and Level 3 (ERP) through Hardware, Software, Operating Systems, and Infrastructure. Perform configuration, programming, monitoring, troubleshooting, and database administration for Oracle, SQL Server, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), network switches, servers, and workstations. Support the continuous improvement of Level 2 Manufacturing Execution Systems and all automated systems along the plant through (sensors, actuators, Drives, PLC, and Industrial Networks), writing special automation tasks in the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Level 2 and ERP systems. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.




Minimum Requirements:






  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience in Electronic, Electrical, Process, orAutomation Engineering.

  • Three years of experience working on Level 1/2 systems in an industrial environment

  • Must have experience in: Control System Theory; software development for high availability applications including development,commissioning, integration, and maintenance of automated systems; administrating for SQL Server; Thin Manager, sensors, actuators, Drives, PLC, and Industrial Networks); SCADA platforms, including Wonderware, Archestra, IBA/PDA, and Factory Talk; PLC programming experience, including Allen Bradley, GE, and Siemens; Hardware, Software, Operating Systems, and Infrastructure; and configuration of servers and workstations.

Preferences:






  • Theoretical and working knowledge of the Steel Mill process.

  • VM, Thin Manager, Cisco Switch, Fortigate Firewall experience
