Service Technician- Hot Runner at D-M-E COMPANY LLC in Madison Heights, Michigan

Job Summary:

The hot runner service technician will work as part of the operations team. In this position, the service technician will perform electrical and mechanical assembly and testing of injection mold hot runner systems, as well as ancillary electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic control systems. Work may be on new equipment or customer owned equipment returned to DME for repair and service. This position requires technical, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge and manual dexterity. This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals/Cad Data and follow these instructions. This position may require the operation of a forklift, man-lift, or pallet jack. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.

Essential/Key Functions:

• Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
• Correspond with internal customers as needed
• Provide assembly and / or repair of mold hot runner systems and control systems (Temperature Control, Cooling Care cleaning machine, etc)
• Prepares, maintains, repairs and sets up equipment, parts, or products
• Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
• Operation of lathe, Bridgeport, surface grinder and other manual equipment
• Open skids, crates and other containers.
• Operate heavy machinery including crane, man lift, forklift etc.
• Wear the proper safety equipment.
• Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
• Prepares reports as needed
• Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions.
• Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed.
• Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators
• Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner
• Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed
• Other duties as assigned by management

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED equivalency


• Work history / technical training for high mechanical aptitude


• Work experience in injection molding environment is desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude


• Experience / understanding of the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools


• Must have experience in pneumatics and hydraulics


• Must have experience in electrical


• Troubleshooting capability


• Must manage time well


• Must support mission and purpose of the company and be committed to professional and personal growth


• Must take initiative


• Must be results driven


• Ability to work as part of a team and interface with other departments.


• Good analytical skills


• Ability to prioritize in the face of multiple tasks
