We are seeking a full-time Product Owner for our Auto OEM team in our office in Novi, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the development team's capabilities are in-scope, on-time and of high quality, participating in all team ceremonies including standups, planning, backlog refinement, review and retrospectives. In addition to the core development team responsibilities, you will also work directly with customers, subcontractors and product/project management.
Essential Functions
Manages product and sprint backlog for their particular domain or feature area by carefully considering customer needs under resource, scope and time restraints.
Generates end user-facing product-level backlog requirements with clearly testable acceptance criteria to address software requirements for a feature, product, or family of products in accordance with Garmin's software development methodology. Communicates product backlog items to Scrum teams.
Mediates between the customer and the software teams to ensure that product/feature requirements are implemented according to acceptance criteria/definition of done.
Collaborates with the SW Project Manager to ensure proper alignment between product roadmap and the customer SW schedule.
Supports customer and internal management communication regarding their product roadmap, vision and deliverables.
Communicates sprint and product goals to their Scrum teams.
Ensures that the product backlog is transparent, visible and understood.
Defines and communicates the vision for their functional domain. Creates and maintains a product roadmap.
Drives for clarity when dealing with ambiguous customer requirements or late customer requests.
Collaborates with the Scrum Master to refine or improve the development process as necessary.
Demonstates an adept understanding on customer needs and anticipates these changes for efficient development.
Participates in technical exchanges as necessary. Understands technical concepts at a superficial level for their domain to effectively communicate progress and manage risk.
Serves as a primary liason to the Garmin customer and/or subcontractor for their domain.
Evaluates their domain's product progress through each iteration. Regularly participates in Scrum ceremonies.
Supports the Scrum Master to amicably resolve cross-domain dependencies and risks.
Participates on occasion in sprint demonstrations for other, complimentary domains.
Develops strong relationships with the customer as well as internal development teams.
Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering AND 6 years relevant experience OR a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Experience with JIRA and/or Azure DevOps
Must demonstrate proficiency in the Agile Software Development Life Cycle
Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrate ability to work well with others under challenging circumstances
Desired Qualifications
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Embedded SW Development Expertise
Expertise with JAMA, or any other requirements gathering tool
Automotive OEM experience with either automotive manufacturer or tier 1 or 2 supplier
