Primary Function

The Sr Configuration Management Database Administrator is responsible for providing daily end-to-end delivery of Configuration Management services in accordance with the configuration management plan.

Principal Duties


  • Facilitate Configuration Management audits

  • Review critical incident outage resolution results and responses and dispositions of failed changes due to issues related to Configuration Management

  • Facilitate communication and engage business and IT management to encourage Configuration Management efforts

  • Lead the organization of Configuration Management services, concepts, policies, and procedures

  • Create all requirements, use cases, user stories, etc. to support new or improving CMS functionality. Maintain and improve Configuration Item (CI) integrity (class, naming conventions, attributes, sources, and relationships)

  • Review and publish configuration management reporting

  • Manage and improve ServiceNow Discovery and ServiceNow Services Mapping for cloud inventory

  • Administration of Management, Instrumentation, and Discovery (MID) servers when needed

  • Add/Update/remove Discovery credentials

  • Create/update/Remove Discovery ranges and schedules

  • Create/update/remove identification and reconciliation rules.

  • Monitor CMDB Health and resolve conflict through data sources

  • Interpret Discovery logs and data to diagnose issues

  • Provide governance to ensure the integrity of the CMDB

  • Review areas for improvements and enhancements to mature the CMDB

  • Collaborate and assist in ServiceNow Development

  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems

  • 5+ years relevant Configuration Management Database/ITOM experience

  • 2+ years ServiceNow IT Operations experience

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements


  • Expert knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB, IT Configuration and asset Management processes

  • Understanding of ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping tools

  • ITIL Foundation Certification

  • Experience in ServiceNow Development, IE Java, Workflows
