Business Program Manager & Operational Readiness Lead at Cigna in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Incumbent will be a member of the US Commercial Portfolio Intake, Prioritization & Orchestration team responsible for managing key aspects of delivering new Products/Solutions, Programs and Services to the market. This includes the responsibility to understand and evaluate goals and requirements across multiple initiatives. Manage pilots, test and learns and other initiatives. Oversee the evaluation of in-flight pilots to support Product development.

The incumbent will organize and oversee multiple work groups, create/manage integrated work plans, monitor progress against goals, develop and maintain cross-functional, matrixed relationships with business and IT, escalate risks and identify potential solutions, provide concise and timely status updates and communications tailored to appropriate stakeholder audiences. The incumbent will also organize and oversee multiple work groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides oversite and guidance to less experienced program managers on the team.

  • Lead mid to large size projects.

  • Self-directed and capable of leading a team of cross organizational professionals.

  • Leads impact (teams/cost) and feasibility (capacity/timing) assessments.

  • Leads the development of business/operational readiness project/delivery plans leveraging established project and program methodology.

  • Oversee end-to-end process development, site readiness, staffing, training, SOPs, communications, change management, contingency planning, etc. for all impacted business areas.

  • Develops and maintains workplans that consider the priorities, key milestones, time estimates, task sequencing and identification of tasks that may be performed concurrently to achieve objectives.

  • Identifies and develops relationships with sponsors and key stakeholders to establish and monitor progress against project goals and objectives. As needed, coach senior executives re: sponsor and stakeholder roles and responsibilities to ensure project success.

  • Partners with matrix organizations to ensure that appropriate action is taken to identify and implement initiatives. Specifically, develops and maintains strong relationships with IT leaders to collaborate and cooperate with IT processes for initiatives requiring IT support.

  • Develops and provides oversight to impacted business teams throughout delivery execution.

  • Ensure the integrity of project scope is maintained & any adjustments are communicated & understood by all key stakeholders.

  • Ensures the timely and quality development and distribution of all deliverables within their scope.

  • Identify and work to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful attainment of project goals.

  • Manages risks/dependencies associated with delivery timing, capacity, trade-offs.

  • Resolve issues and determine contingency plans and triggers for risks. As needed, escalate issues to appropriate audiences including key business leaders and team members.

  • Ensures appropriate use of tools to track and monitor the financial performance of assigned projects.

  • Positive role model and change agent.

  • Develops and implements communication and reporting mechanisms to manage issues, risks and timely delivery of initiative results.

  • Evaluates project status and resource utilization; implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE:


  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred; High School Diploma required.

  • Minimum of 5 years combined business and technology project management experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in healthcare industry.

  • SAFe® Certification, PMI Certification and/or Six Sigma training preferred.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and success.

  • Detail oriented, with proven prioritization, time management and organization skills (including the ability to engage in multiple tasks and meet deadlines/standards).

  • Ability to tie together complex issues and implement solutions to meet the needs of the global matrix.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, embracing change and helping others see it as an opportunity and stay focused on goals while adapting to change.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and rapidly changing team-based, heavily matrixed environment.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results with strong sense of urgency.

  • Strong influencing and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate with peers and senior leaders to come to agreed upon and productive solutions to business problems.

  • Excellent interpersonal, consulting and relationship management skills. Ability to foster collaboration, value other's perspectives and gain support and buy-in for organizational proposals.

  • Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to speed in new business areas and new types of projects.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Managerial courage and leadership.

  • Proven ability to manage and mentor others. Viewed as a leader and mentor. Sought out for advice and council within and outside of direct team.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 95,100 - 158,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
