JOB SUMMARY

The Process Development Engineer IV will be responsible to develop and/or optimize manufacturing processes in an engineering proto-typing environment.  The role requires broad knowledge in assembly and process technologies which includes but not limited to soldering, gluing, plastic molding, SMT, marking, micro-optical assembly, and mechanical property of materials.  Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment on multiple process/projects and learn new manufacturing, assembly, or material processes as needed.  Must be able to determine root cause of a problem, determine technical solution, and execute to completion.  The ability to work independently with little direction in a highly fluid environment is required.  Considered a subject matter expert who can utilizes best practices, knowledge, and experience to analyze information and make data driven decisions. 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Be the primary development engineer for assigned processes.

  • Coordinate design requirements with appropriate personnel.

  • Run tests and evaluate data to determine optimal process or material selection. 

  • Investigate equipment or new materials for development of new processes.

  • Help manage project tasks and activities to meet project schedule.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS


  • Demonstrated process development using different materials and processes.

  • Knowledge and background in destructive and nondestructive testing.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Develop experiments to determine which process to use.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-directed and a team player.

  • Job requires the ability to enter a clean room, lift up to 45 pounds, manipulate hand tools, work with solvent and chemicals, etc.

DESIRED SKILLS


  • Familiarity with any of the following: optics, image sensor and/or electronics manufacturing knowledge, adhesive properties & material evaluation, DFX, PFMEA, precision automation.

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools (i.e. Minitab).

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma/SPC methods.

  • Familiar with Agile methodology and related software tools (Jira, etc.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, or similar fields.

  • 10+ years of related experience.

The pay range for this role is $91,756 - $174,261. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.

As part of the total rewards package, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive based on performance. In addition, Jabil offers benefits to enhance your health, wealth, and resilient self. These include medical, dental, and vision insurance plans; paid time off accruing at a rate of 3.07 hours during your first year of employment; 4 weeks of paid parental leave; in 2023, 10 company-paid holidays (8 fixed holidays and 2 optional floating holidays), subject to change yearly; 401(k) retirement plan; and employee stock purchase plan.
