Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):  

Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

 

Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Intermediate Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:

Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Blade/Pylon Fold, Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and mechanical Flight Control Systems


  • Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.

  • Aircraft Mechanic I shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.

  • Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.

  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.

  • Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.

 

Responsibility:  Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives.  Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

 

Task Requirements:


  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, and ventilation and heating systems.

  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight control.

  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.

  • Perform preflight, thru flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, launch and recover aircraft, and Preventive Maintenance Daily Inspections.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).

  • Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections

  • Use chemical treatment process to etch and alodine parts.

  • Use chemical sealants.

  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.

  • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment

  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required

  • Perform other tasks as directed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Three or more years’ experience performing airframe maintenance

  • Aircraft Corrosion (N-701-0013) and Paint, Final Finish Insignia (N-701-0014) or equivalent

  • Previously certified Airframes, Corrosion Control, and/or Line Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI)

  • Previously certified Tire and Wheel

  • Previously certified Hydraulic Contamination

 

Basic Qualifications:


  • Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) “A” school or equivalent.

  • Three years aviation maintenance experience required.

  • Basic Corrosion Control Course

  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd , 3rd or Weekend shift as required

  • Must be abl.e to work flexible work week schedule as required.

  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.

  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.

  • Must be able to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.

  • Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Satisfactory completion National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquires (ANACI Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.

 

Compensation

$42.50/hour

Other Compensation

Employees who opt-out of the group medical plan receive a bi-weekly opt out credit of $100.00

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
