The position titled Double Cover Operator is responsible to maintain the operation of the RPR, A, B, and U double-cover texturing machines.

The operator will rotate between four different double cover machines but follow the same methods for handling spools, packages, and performing thread-up procedures.  The double cover machines will contain two spools; Spandex and yarn packages that produce one yarn package.  They will hand thread the machines and repair broken ends as needed.  Spool and yarn package weights can range from less than 1.0 lb up to 3.3 lbs.  In order to remove the spool from the A, B, and U machines, the operator is required to exert a single-arm pushdown force of 20.0 lbs to disengage the spool from its spindle.  Based on the vertical height, single and double step-up platforms are used for the RPR and A machines that range from 14 to 18 inches in order to access packages that are located 90 inches above floor level.  Using the step-up and platforms, the operator can reach up to a maximum of 74 inches above step-up or platform level to operate the machines or handle packages.  Using the step-up and platforms, the operator can reach up to a maximum of 74 inches above step-up or platform level to operate the machines or handle packages when doffing or placing empty tubes into the cradle.  The operator creels packages of Spandex into the creel board as needed.  They will inspect yarn packages, review tube labels, place the yarn package into plastic bags and then into the packing box.  They will block creeled Spandex packages and assemble packing boxes as needed.

We now offer new competitive hourly rates starting at $16.65 with top pay up to $18.50. In addition, our updated enhanced shift premiums of $1.00 for 12-hour night shifts.

Are you qualified for the position?

• Thread up cover machine by removing yarn ends from nylon spool and Spandex packages.


• Pass both thread ends through guide and insert ends into notch on tube.


• Repair broken ends by removing yarn package from cover machine, pull yarn from spool allowing yarn to be sucked up by vacuum air jet until ends of yarn can be located on package.


• Knot ends of yarn together using auto hand knotter.


• Stop spool from spinning by using rubber hand brake.


• Creel spools of yarn into machine and thread yarn using cord or wire.


• Creel packages of Spandex into creel board and knot ends together.


• Doff packages from machine, place empty tubes into cradle, insert yarn ends into tube and start machine.


• Inspect yarn packages, review tube label, place yarn package into plastic bag, and place bagged yarn into packing box.


• Block creeled Spandex packages as needed.


• Assemble packing boxes.
