Grain Processing Corporation, a member of the Kent Corporation family of companies, has a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Division Engineer Intern for the summer of 2023! The Division Engineer Intern will provide technical and engineering assistance to the Operations division of Grain Processing Corporation.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiate innovations with respect to process and equipment modifications or changes, which improve operating conditions, safety, energy conservation, environmental concerns, and/or profitability
Manage capital and expense projects from conception to production, including preparation of financial justification, specifying, purchasing, as well as tracking all spending related to the project
Develop maintenance and operator training documentation, conduct equipment qualification and initial training of production personnel, and make provisions for repair parts stocking levels.
Work with the Division Superintendent to represent the interests of the Production Department in discussions with the Engineering, Process Development, and Research Departments on changes or new installations in the division
Project management tasks such as: purchasing of materials and supplies, equipment installation, budget tracking, employee training, and startup of projects
Monitor process equipment downtime records to identify troublesome equipment and provide recommendations for improvements
Calculate material balances when processes change or when directed by Division Superintendent
Responsible for concept, design, estimating, proposal submittal purchasing, installation, start-up, commissioning, documentation, training, and closure of capital projects
Develop project plans, timelines, cost estimates for process improvements to meet the overall manufacturing and operations objectives
Work directly with operations in troubleshooting and resolving process issues
EDUCATION:
Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Chemical, Electrical, Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering required. Other engineering disciplines may be considered.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in a corn wet milling or similar industrial process is desired
Internship or co-op experience in an operations or manufacturing environment strongly desired
Previous supervisory experience is a plus
Strong verbal and technical writing skills
Advanced skill level in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is strongly desired
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
TRAVEL:
Limited travel (up to 10%) may be required for training or to support business needs.
