We are seeking a qualified Logistics Specialist for our Mansfield, OH operations. This role develops and implements least-cost strategy for transportation and distribution of finished and unfinished products within the organization and customer market by performing the following duties:
Principal Responsibilities:
Secures transportation availability for all logistical needs.
Supports transportation functions during emergency situations.
Follows standardized processes while performing dispatch duties for assigned locations.
Works with logistics team members to coordinate asset sharing and identify efficiencies.
Maintain rate databases and assist sales with quotes.
Develops working relationships with current and new carriers; understands and identifies advantages by engaging carrier strengths.
Reviews third party performance and carrier sourcing.
Facilitates communication between sales, customers and carriers as needed for successful, timely deliveries.
Participates in business development and special projects.
Contributes to company transportation decisions; exploits cost-savings opportunities for transportation and logistics.
Participates and contributes to company safety program.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: 4 years relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to work with carriers, customers service staff, drivers and vendors on daily basis.
Ability to work as a team member under time constraints and conflicting priorities.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively and respond to groups of managers, clients, customers, and team members.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
